I have always enjoyed craftwork for as long as I can remember. One of my favourite pastimes as a very young girl was making dolls houses and furniture from cardboard boxes, shoe boxes and matchboxes, even though I had a perfectly nice dolls house bought for me! I loved the challenge of designing the layout of each room, the wall coverings and the furnishings to match and I still enjoy that now of course, but with my 'real' house!
As time went by, I moved on to embroidery - cross-stitch in particular and then on to beadwork. I enjoyed nothing more than creating my own designs, but I was looking for something different.
Healing crystals are beautiful both in their natural state and when shaped and polished, yet I never really looked at them with an artistic eye until one day when on a shopping trip for a particular crystal. I found the one I was drawn to but I knew that I wanted to wear it around my neck both for its healing properties and its decorative function. Although I could source the same type of crystal with a hole through it to make a necklace, the material provided was a leather thong and I did not feel that this did any real justice to the crystal. The crystal deserved better!
I decided I must combine my love of beads with healing crystals and create necklaces that the crystals would feel proud to be part of. This is how the idea for 'healingbeads' was formed.
